If you are environmentally conscious, you are going to like what I have to tell you about my recent stay at a Hocking Hills rental called Carpenter’s Cabin. This modern home pulls out all the stops when it comes to being environmentally friendly. From the pitch of the roof to the linens on the beds, every element of this space has been curated with responsibility to the environment in mind.
Owners Scott and Jami Jenkins have a large, close knit family and had been dreaming of a space where they could all come together and spend quality time. With a father who was a carpenter, Jami’s interior design skills, and a passion for eco-friendly build and design, they embarked on a journey that lead them to a plot of land near beautiful Hocking Hills State Park.
Along the way they shared their design inspiration and build process via their Instagram page. If you’ve been following along with their trials and successes during this process, you were probably on the edge of your seat as they drew nearer and nearer to completion. The cabin was recently completed and I count myself as one of the lucky first few with the opportunity to experience it. I can’t wait to take you along on a photo tour of my stay.
The cabin sits on 32 forested pine acres. While there are some houses nearby and you are only about a 5 minute drive from downtown Laurelville, on site you feel like you’re in your own private world. The dense pine trees provide seclusion and beauty.
The front of the cabin has a gorgeous covered deck with plenty of space to sit and enjoy your surroundings. While you look around you may just spot a deer or catch a glimpse of a friendly owl neighbor who can be spotted flying around the property.
When you head to the back of the cabin you’ll be surprised to see THREE levels and 2 amazing decks. A hot tub is off to the side with trees all around it and a few magical string lights. The vibe back here is nothing short of magical.
The inside of the cabin is contemporary and modern, while still retaining the cozy feel you expect from a cabin. It’s very spacious and a great option for those looking for a family friendly rental. When you first walk in you see an open floor plan that contains the living and dining room, along with the kitchen. You can look upwards at the second level and even view the tiny loft at the tip top of the cabin
The dining room table is stylishly decorated and there is a mix of bench and chair seating.
The kitchen is small but mighty. There is plenty of space for cooking and all the items you need to make a meal are provided.
However, the show stopper of this floor is the conversation pit living room space. I have stayed in nearly 100 cabins over the last three years and never have I seen anything like it. From the pit you can enjoy the electric fireplace and watch TV, or you can chat with people in the dining or living room.
On this floor you will also find a bathroom and two bedrooms, each room has it’s own unique touches in decor.
The next level includes another bathroom, snack/coffee station, and bedroom. There is an amazing porch that is screened in on this level.
And don’t forget about the loft I mentioned earlier! This little spot feels SO high up, but provides cozy vibes galore.
There is also a basement floor that includes another living space, one more bathroom, and a last bedroom. This vacation home has no shortage of space.
Carpenter’s Cabin has everything you need for a family vacation in the Hocking Hills area. The rental makes any trip memorable. Mine was made even more special by a surprise from my boyfriend. He proposed while we were hiking Conkle’s Hallow!
Can you tell the ring is a-frame inspired?
After our eventful hike we celebrated at the cabin. I could not have imagined a more perfect way to start the rest of my life with the one I love than at this amazing space. Thank you to Jami and Scott for sharing their home with us!
